The Ridge Tool Company is one of the oldest American manufacturing companies in the state of Ohio. It was founded in 1923 in North Ridgeville, Ohio. The company makes and distributes various lines of tools under the Rigid brand name. In 1943, Ridge Tool relocated to its current location in Elyria, Ohio. And, in 1966, Ridge Tool became a wholly owned subsidiary of Emerson Electric.
On Friday, June 13, 2014, Dr. Oya Tukel and students enrolled in the summer 2014 - OSM 493/696 (NEO Supply Chain Tours) course visited the Ridge Tool Company in Elyria, Ohio. The CSU group was welcomed by Joe Kovarik (Materials Manager) and Amy Gress (Sr. Commodity Manager) of Ridge Tool. In addition, Joe and Amy provided a private tour of the facility for the CSU group and answered questions pertaining to the field of supply chain management.
CSU students appreciated engaging with industry leaders (Amy and Joe) and discussing with them numerous field related topics (Total Quality Management, Globalization, Customer Service, Technology, Production, Suppliers, Competition, Cost, Transportation, etc.) as they relate to operations and supply chain management.
