On Friday, June 21, OSM students visited the Cleveland Clinic Distribution Center in Cleveland, OH.
This excursion was part of the OSM 493/696 NEO Supply Chain Tours class that the OSM department offers typically during the summer session.
During this visit students had a chance to explore supplies replenishment system, delivery schedules, sorting systems, warehouse functions and storage.
They were guided by the Director of SCH Enterprises Systems Services at CCF, Mr. Tom Nather, who gave them a warm welcome and provided information about the operational functions within his department.
Mr. Nather, especially stressed the importance of predictive data analytics:
"Analytics are important when looking at current and past performance,
but predictive analytics are very important in today’s supply chain to predict where trends are taking you."
The OSM students observed motorized carts called Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV’s) that serve and deliver to 12 buildings within the CCF campus.
