As a member of the Supply Chain Team at Garick, your responsibilities will include:
- Communicate with trucking companies and customers regarding deliveries.
- Optimize all trucking moves using best management practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure product arrives in a timely, safe manner while making the process appear seamless to the customer.

Operations Management Intern
Glass Doctor of Northeast Ohio in need of an Operations Management intern. They are a (mostly) mobile service company with our main office and shop just down the street from CSU on Carnegie. They currently have 14 technicians servicing nine counties in Northeast Ohio. They are in need of someone to come in and help to improve operations in the areas of:
- Inventory management and controls
- Purchasing/ordering procedures and controls and vendor relationship management
- Dispatch efficiency
- Quality control
- Other as needed
The owner is very willing to allow interns to think creatively and try things (with some research and data to back up ideas) with his support. This is an area that they feel is in desparate need of improvement because there is a lot of waste and inefficiency right now.

Commodity Lead I - Facilities and Construction Services
Description:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that will provide competitive advantages to the SBU's and entities represented by North American Procurement.
- Execution of global and/or regional category and supplier strategies utilizing the 7 step procurement sourcing process.
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies to provide secure supply lines, contribute toward global financial results, and promote company innovation initiatives.
- Team leader for commodity councils designed to facilitate alternate sourcing, new source development, educate stakeholders, and execute the commodity strategies.
- Provide leadership and support for Supplier Relationship Management.
Tasks:
- Commodity Management: Develop and implement the Commodity Strategy to include analysis of global markets, trends, technology, value chain analysis, clean sheet costing, SBU needs and long term sourcing plans.
- Company Financial Results: Contribute to Goodyear's EBIT and Cash Flow objectives through negotiations and effective use of leverage to reduce materials & services costs. Improve Working Capital through pay term negotiations and compliance.
- Council Collaboration: Lead council to align the goals of NAT businesses and the procurement department across a wide range of alternate sourcing and new source development strategies.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Develop world class relationships within supplier organizations to align the suppliers strategies with the companies focus on total cost of ownership, advantaged supply chain, innovation and continuous process improvement.
- Market / Competitive Intelligence: Develop efficient channels for capturing effective market intelligence. Leverage this data through should-cost models and other forms of financial or negotiation strategies.
Requirements:
- Ideal candidate with have 3-5 years' experience in a facility management role working within a manufacturing environment.
- Have experience managing third party suppliers for services such as HVAC, janitorial, maintenance contractors, electrical, or mechanical.
- Exposure to a union environment would be a plus.
- Preferred experience: Working across various regions and cultures
- Knowledge required: Purchasing fundamentals, commercial contract laws, international business acumen and supply chain processes.
- Skills required: Intermediate negotiations skills, financial analysis, communications, strategic thinking, team player, and management.
- 4 year technical or business degree
- MBA or BS in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry

Sourcing Analyst
Supports the Category Manager and/or Procurement Director, works with departmental personnel to ensure data accuracy and specification of materials and service being sourced/ procured, provide customer relationship support and track vendor performance. The individual will assess elements of the supply base and help define, execute, and support strategic sourcing and procurement decisions. Individual is typically project or continuous assignment focused.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist Category Managers/Director of Sourcing in Strategic Sourcing activities by collecting and analyzing spend data, benchmarking, and reporting (30%)
- Develop and issue RFI, RFPs and Invitation to Bid (20%)
- Lead sourcing of smaller commodities or project based spend (10%)
- Participate in cross functional teams such as category councils, continuous improvement activities etc. (10%)
- Conduct total cost of ownership evaluation, contract reviews, stakeholder, business requirements development and supplier performance metric reviews as required by category teams. (20%)
- Assist Category Managers with negotiations (10%)
Internal contacts include: Business Stakeholders - Analysts through Leadership to gather data, confirm specifications, and provide updates. External contacts include: Suppliers to discuss contracts, negotiations, supplier metrics, business requirements. Industry sources to conduct market research and discover best practices.
Other Qualifications / Information:
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in business or related discipline.
- Requires on-the-job training.
- Superior quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, strong listening skills, expert in MS Excel, PPT, self-directed, motivated to take on activities outside of normal scope of work, good presentation skills.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.

Transportation Analyst
The successful candidate will have a transportation operation background including freight audit and payment spanning these types of activity and scope:
- Domestic packaged freight moving 25,000 truckloads per year and 70,000 LTL shipments/year.
- Domestic bulk truckload (90% dry, 10% liquid) moving 7,000 truckloads/year.
- Domestic small package (FedEx and UPS) moving 120,000 shipments/year.
- International freight forwarding moving 1,500 FEU's, 500 TEU's, and 2,000 LCL shipments/year.
- Leased rail car fleet of 600 covered hopper dry cars including maintenance and repairs.
- Claim & Customer Complaint Administration.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Supplier Management of Bulk Operations:
- Bulk truck carrier selection and routing decision support. (tactical & strategic)
- OTA tracking and reporting for bulk truck and rail car movements to the "leg" level.
- Under performing to target corrective action escalation process and summary reporting.
- Rail car tracking and trace with daily alert mechanisms for potential failures
Supplier Management Freight Audit & Payment:
- Accrual postings maintained at acceptable levels of rolling 12 month average total payments.
- Carrier partners paid at target number of days or better.
- Targets maintained for ME23 and MIRO SAP freight cash settlement with 3rd party audit-pay provider.
- Root cause and corrective action planning for accrual or DSO performing worse than target.
Assigned various projects as designated by logistics managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field with 3 - 5 years experience in the transportation industry.
- Strong written and oral communication skills a must.
- Proficiency with various computer programs including Microsoft Office.
