The Certificate in Manufacturing Management is designed to provide the necessary knowledge for manufacturing professionals, manufacturing supervisors and managers to understand, improve and implement advanced manufacturing processes and concepts to increase efficiency and productivity.
Admission to the Manufacturing Management Certificate Program is open to the following:
Submission and evaluation of official transcripts will be required to determine if any prerequisite courses are needed. Admission to the certificate program and course schedules will be determined by the OSM Department.
The program consists of five courses, all of which are designed according to the APICS (Association of Operations Management) body of knowledge. These courses can be completed within one year. OSM 311 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite course that must be completed first. OSM 311 can be taken in the classroom or online. A minimum grade of C is required in each course to earn the certificate.
These courses are currently listed in the 2013-14 CSU Undergraduate Catalog and are regularly offered in the OSM program.
OSM 311: Introduction to Operations Management
Prerequisite(s): OSM 201. Introduction to the design and management of manufacturing and service operations.
OSM 313: Inventory Management
Prerequisite(s): OSM 311. Various problems related to the procurement, handling and storing of materials in different stages of production will be discussed.
OSM 413: Production Planning and Control
Prerequisite(s): OSM 311 or permission of the instructor. Planning, scheduling, and controlling of activities related to the production of goods are examined.
OSM 414: Material/Capacity Requirement Planning Using SAP
Prerequisite(s): OSM 311 or permission of the instructor. This course studies material requirements planning (MRP) and capacity requirements planning (CRP) in the manufacturing environment.
OSM 417: Lean Six Sigma
Prerequisite(s): OSM 311 or permission of the instructor. The primary focus of this course is to present techniques which are intended to synchronize and streamline the production process including inventory management.
