On Friday, August 22, 2014, over one hundred faculty and staff from the Monte Ahuja College of Business attended a “Strategy and Innovation Retreat” at the Union Club in Cleveland, Ohio.
After an international faculty search, the Operations and Supply Chain Management Department at CSU is pleased to welcome Professor Nazli Turken, Assistant Professor – effective fall 2014.
On June 20, 2014, Dr. Tukel and OSM students visited the Toledo Express Airport and the Toledo Seaport. The students learned about the transportation services provided by each industry and how those services assist the economy.
On Thursday, June 19, 2014, Dr. Tukel and students enrolled in OSM 493/OSM 696 (NEO Supply Chain Tours) visited the Cleveland Clinic (near 89th St. and Euclid Avenue). The CSU group learned how Cleveland Clinic partnered with the Schachinger Group in November 2005 to improve the efficiency of the Clinic's Supply Chain Operations.
Dr. Tukel and students enrolled in summer 2014 - OSM 493/696 course visited the Ridge Tool Company on Friday, June 13, 2014. Joe Kovarik (Materials Manager) and Amy Gress (Sr. Commodity Manager) of Ridge Tool conducted a private tour of the facility and answered questions.
On Friday, June 6, 2014, Dr. Tukel and students enrolled in OSM 493/OSM (NEO Supply Chain Tours) traveled to FedEx Custom Critical. A team of FedEx employees greeted the CSU guests and provided invaluable information regarding supply chain management.
On Thursday, May 29, 2014, the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management was recognized at the GoAbroad Reception during the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo in San Diego, CA for outstanding achievement in international education!
On Friday, May 30, 2014, Dr. Tukel and 25 students enrolled in OSM 493 / OSM 696 (NEO Supply Chain Tours) traveled on Lolly the Trolley as they visited the Port of Cleveland. The students saw large ships and discussed logistics of moving freight from the port. Later, the group toured landmarks in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Oya Tukel and students enrolled in summer 2014 - OSM 493/696 (NEO Supply Chain Tours) course visited the Fastenal Distribution Center in Akron, Ohio, on Friday, May 23, 2014.
The Institute for Supply Management reported that those surveyed with four or fewer years of experience in the supply management field earned an average salary of $72,119. They also reported that education is one of the major factors affecting salary and professional achievement in the industry.
On Saturday, May 10, 2014, OSM Department faculty and staff attended the Cleveland State University graduation ceremony, which included students from the Monte Ahuja College of Business.

On Friday, April 25, 2014, Dr. Tukel presented Outstanding Student Awards to two Operations and Supply Chain Management graduating seniors, David Jarmusik and Carli Parsons, at the Forty-first Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony at Cleveland State University.
Approximately 20 CSU students attended the RIDGID Recruitment Event in the Monte Ahuja College of Business on April 23rd. The students had the opportunity to learn information from veterans in the field of Supply Chain Management and interview for intern and co-op opportunities with the organization.

The Certificate in Manufacturing Management is designed to provide the necessary knowledge for manufacturing professionals, supervisors and managers. The program consists of five courses, all of which can be completed within one year.
Dr. Tukel and Dr. Chen led a group of 31 CSU OSM students to China from March 7 – 16, 2014. Samah Assad of The Cauldron interviewed Dr. Tukel and two CSU students, Joe Vargo and Dominic Jurcisek-Ortolani, to gain insight regarding their nine-day academic adventure in China. Dr. Tukel shared that the decision to visit China was based on the country’s growing emphasis on supply chain.

Cleveland State University students in the OSM Dept. travelled to China under the leadership of Dr. Oya Tukel and Dr. Jen-yi Chen. Dr. Birsen Karpak and five students from Youngstown State University accompanied the CSU group.

The CSU undergraduate APICS team was comprised of four undergraduate Operations and Supply Chain Management students (Ronald Spring, Kelly Wasserman, Allen Dobranic, and Anthony Burch) and advised by Dr. Jen-Yi Chen. The competition was hosted from Feb. 21 - Feb. 22, 2014, and the CSU team won a prize of $ 1,500.00 for their APICS chapter and a medallion (see picture to the left).
