Mr. Ortman joined Nicola, Gudbranson & Cooper, LLC (previously Rosner, Ortman & Moss Partners, LLC) in 1998. He was named a partner of the Ohio immigration attorney firm in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ortman, Ohio immigration lawyer, practiced immigration law with Deasy & Whitehill, P.C. in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Ortman practices in all areas of immigration law. He has extensive experience with employment-based immigration for employers of all sizes covering a variety of industries, including telecommunications, medical and advanced technology. Mr. Ortman has lectured on the labor certification process, the effect of mergers and acquisitions on foreign national employees, as well as political asylum.
Mr. Ortman received his BA degree, with honors, in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1991, and his JD degree from the George Washington University National Law Center in 1995. He is admitted to the Ohio and Pennsylvania Bars, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Ohio, the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Mr. Ortman is a member of AILA and a past board member of the Cleveland Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). He is also proficient in Spanish and has taken a leadership role within the Latino community in the Cleveland area on immigration issues. Mr. Ortman currently serves as the Ohio AILA liaison to U.S. Customs & Border Protection.
