Women in Business: Today and Tomorrow

Women in Business: Today and Tomorrow will highlight the importance of women in business, as well as their leadership impact on their organization, Northeast Ohio and to support future women in business.

Join us March 20th, 2014 at 12pm in BU 220

The program was designed to help promote career and leadership development for female students interested in studying business disciplines that will lead to an undergraduate degree; as well as focus on degree completion among female students who are studying business within the Monte Ahuja College of Business. In addition, the program hopes to develop long-term networking opportunities, a lecture series, career shadowing days and mentoring opportunities.

The inaugural Women in Business: Today and Tomorrow will take place on Thursday March 20, 2014 from 12:00pm until 1:30pm in BU 220 and will include a roundtable dialogue and focus on the following:

  • Business professionals will highlight their current and previous career paths
  • Provide insightful information about careers and general employment skill sets required
  • Issues that women will face within various business industries
  • Why more women are needed in business and various specific business industries
  • Skills females must develop prior to graduation
  • Leadership roles and managerial roles
  • Networking
  • How to cope when you are the only female on the team or in the classroom
  • Any helpful advice

Panelists

Lisa Boucher

Chief Development Officer at Northwestern Mutual, Northern Ohio

Boucher is a financial professional and a part of the Management team at Northwestern Mutual with over 9 years of experience. Lisa is registered as a Broker-Dealer Agent and is able to buy/sell securities. Northwestern Mutual is a financial services company that offers a variety of insurance and investment solutions.

Jessica Castellano

Executive Director of Recruitment at Northwestern Mutual

Castellano is a human resource professional who recruits and selects professional talent for the Northwestern Mutual Northern Ohio office and she is a graduate of Cleveland State University. Northwestern Mutual is a financial services company that offers a variety of insurance and investment solutions.

Michelle Frietchen

Senior Manager, Market Research & Analytics for the Cleveland Clinic

Frietchen has 20 years in the Market Research & Analytics industry and has managed the Market Research Department since 2001. Also, she is co-chair of Women in Search of Excellence (WISE), an Employee Resource Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree with a marketing major from Cleveland State University.

Linda Kane

Senior Vice President, Treasurer -- Forest City Enterprises, Inc

Kane has almost 30 years of experience in the real estate industry and she is a CPA and holds a bachelor’s degree with an accounting major from Cleveland State University. She is a member of the Visiting Committee of the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State.

Daria Roebuck

Vice president, human resources for ERICO International Corporation

ERICO International Corporation is a leading designer and manufacturer of precision-engineered metal products serving global niche product markets in a diverse range of electrical, construction, utility and rail applications. Roebuck holds a bachelor’s degree with a business education major from Cleveland State University. She serves on the Visiting Committee of the Monte Ahuja College of Business and as a mentor for the College’s Global TARGET program.

Kim Ruggeri

College Lecturer of Marketing at Cleveland State University

Kim specializes in marketing, advertising, and consulting courses. Ruggeri has more than 10 years of experience working in advertising agencies and she has managed accounts for companies such as Sherwin-Williams, White Castle, MetroHealth, and The Cleveland Indians. Ruggeri holds a master’s degree with business administration focus from Cleveland State University.

Sharen Bakke: Assistant Professor in the department of Computer & Information Science with a strong focus on Systems Analysis and Design and Knowledge Management topics.

Donna Davisson: College Lecturer of the CSU Marketing/International Business Department, as well as a licensed customs broker, a Certified Global Business Professional.

Christine Dickinson: College Lecturer of the CSU Marketing/International Business Department with a special focus on Global Marketing Management, and International Consulting.

Vickie Gallagher: Associate Professor of the CSU Management and Labor Relations Department with a focus on Organizational Behavior and Human Resources topics.

Rama Jayanti: Professor of the CSU Marketing/International Business Department of CSU with a focus on pharmaceutical marketing, sustainability and customer satisfaction topics.

Tracy Porter: College Associate Lecturer of the CSU Management and Labor Relations Department with a focus on human resources and general management topics.
