On Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m., students, faculty, staff and business professionals gathered together in the Board Room for the fourth event in the Career Connection Series. Faculty and staff included Lesley Koskey, Academic Advisor and Oya Tukel, Interim Department Chair of Finance. Lunch was provided and the Q&A panel discussion got started after I gave a brief overview of the program and introduced the panelists.
The panelists were eager to share their insight into the career options for students who major in Finance & Business Economics, linking the majors to specific industries and career paths. They talked about their own career paths, desired employment skill sets for a career in Finance or Business Economics, diversity in the workplace, and building a well-rounded foundation for career success. With frequent questions from the audience, the panel discussion became an interactive conversation between the panelists and the students. After the Q&A panel discussion was over, the panelists spent some time talking to students one-on-one.
