Center for Marketing Research

The goal of the Center for Marketing Research is to become a leader in providing consulting and direction to Northeast Ohio companies, hospitals and government agencies. Through our top quality interdisciplinary programs and consulting relationships with industry, government, and partner departments, the Center for Marketing Research provides value to both its students and its clients.  Students develop advanced marketing research skills through instruction in the use of cutting edge technology and statistical programs (e.g., SAS, STATA, R, ArcGIS etc.) and consulting with real-world companies to solve their business problems.

Marketing Research Projects

Company-sponsored marketing research projects bring real-world marketing challenges of Advisory Board companies and other Northeast Ohio organizations into the classroom. Students engage in every stage of actual marketing research projects from problem identification and specification of research questions to presentation of results and recommendations to the client.

The Center for Marketing Research offers a Graduate Certificate in Marketing Analytics  with specializations in:

  • Traditional marketing research, analytics and qualitative research
  • Web marketing analytics and data visualization
  • Healthcare marketing analytics

Executive Seminars

Led by marketing professionals, executive seminars cover issues relevant to the current marketing environment.  Topics include research design, industry trends, and market research careers. The seminars also provide opportunities for students to network with marketing professionals during a formal question and answer session and a reception following each seminar.

Mission of the Center

The Center for Marketing Research will engage in knowledge development and dissemination in scholarly and practical aspects of marketing research. The Center will strive to be the leading institution of its kind dedicated to knowledge development and dissemination in the area of marketing research.The Center’s goals include knowledge development and knowledge dissemination in the fast-growing field of marketing research.

Northeast Ohio has several industries in need of marketing research consulting services, such as healthcare, banking, finance, and retail. Given the high presence of industry in the Greater Cleveland area, the mission of the Center for Marketing Research is to be the leading academic-based applied research center for the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of marketing research. The Center’s current areas of focus include:

The Center is committed to encouraging academic and applied research and scholarship in the field of marketing research. The Center aims to educate CSU faculty and students on the various critical and topical issues in marketing research and serve the marketing research consulting needs of area businesses.

Faculty of Center for Marketing Research

Ashutosh Dixit (Center Director), Ph.D. Georgia Institute of Technology, is the Interim Chair of the Department of Marketing and Associate Professor of Marketing at CSU.  With over 20 years of industry and academic experience, he has published extensively in top marketing journals, received over 20 prestigious awards for his research and teaching, and has been involved in the MMS program at the University of Georgia.

Rajshekhar (Raj) G. Javalgi is the Associate Dean and Professor of Marketing and International Business at CSU.  He obtained his Ph.D. (Marketing) from the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee.  Dr. Javalgi has published over 100 scholarly and professional journal articles in the field of international business/marketing.  Associate Dean Javalgi will be a major advisor, build relationships with Industry partners, preside over board meetings, and provide direction.

Amit Ghosh, Ph.D. University of Iowa, is a Professor of Marketing at CSU, specializing in marketing analytics and multivariate statistics. Dr. Ghosh will be responsible for building relationships with the SAS institute, Higher Education Division, and getting SAS software, Enterprise miner software, data-bases, course scheduling, and training.

Colette Taddy Hart (Co- Director) is Director of Outreach and Business Centers. She sits on the Board of Governors for NASBITE International Beachwood Business Development Center’s Economic Development Board. Hart obtained her and her B.A. at the University of Wisconsin and MBA from CSU and has secured over $3 million in grants for economic development and outreach. Ms. Hart will be responsible for outreach, building industry relationships, coordinating the executive advisory board, and student recruitment and placement.

Center for Marketing Research Advisory Board

The Center for Marketing Research Advisory Board is comprised of senior business executives from various companies in the region, as well as administrators and faculty from Cleveland State University.The Advisory Board provides seminars, sponsors live marketing research projects and offers counsel on admissions, curriculum and placement policies.
