The Monte Ahuja College of Business VIP Volunteers highlights an important member of the CSU and Cleveland community who works to make our University and city a more engaging place to live and work.
As an extremely active participant in the CSU and Cleveland communities and a true champion of the University, Richard Barone joined the Cleveland State University Foundation in 2002. After becoming Chairman of the Board in 2008, Mr. Barone became a Community Member of the Board of Trustees and active in the Development and Engagement, Financial Affairs, Technology and Athletics committees. Additionally, he has been recognized as a lead sponsor for his very generous support of RADIANCE, President Ronald Berkman’s premier annual scholarship event, which provides nearly $1 million in scholarships to undergraduate students with financial challenges.
A native of Cleveland, Mr. Barone is an accomplished investment advisor, entrepreneur and activist investor. He is currently the Chairman of The Ancora Group; the Arch Eagle Group; and Mace Security International, well-known manufacturers of pepper spray and security products. As a member of the Mace Board of Directors, Richard was instrumental in enabling the company to move its headquarters to Cleveland.
In addition to his tireless dedication to the corporate and educational resources in Cleveland, Richard also engages in the support of the arts community; he recently negotiated the acquisition of the Telling Mansion, an Ohio landmark on the National Register of Historic Places which is intended to one day house The American Porcelain Museum – a world-class collection of museum-quality porcelain sculpture.
The Monte Ahuja College of Business congratulates Richard A. Barone as is its inaugural VIP Volunteer for 2013!
