Recognizing the responsibilities of higher education in the twenty-first century, the Dean has put in place many strategic initiatives to help build a sustainable economic future for our region. Since his appointment in August 2002, Dr. Scherer has been strategically focused on positioning the College as a vital economic force in the community. Toward that end, he has worked with the college faculty, staff, and students on building academic programs to meet the future market needs of the regional business community as well as making the Monte Ahuja College of Business a vital resource for our region’s current business leaders.
With a collaborative spirit and a background in human resource management, he acknowledges that people are at the heart of any organizational success. During his first year as Dean, a number of programs were introduced to encourage increasingly more innovative approaches in teaching, research, and service as well as internal operations.
Dean Scherer is a strong proponent of collaborative partnerships. Aside from having formed partnerships with seven international universities, the college has collaborated with a number of organizations to provide research, business education, and outreach programs to individuals and organizations in Northeast Ohio. An advocate for regionalism, the Dean also participates on boards and in economic development initiatives that help connect the academic and business communities to one another.
