Sally Florkiewicz is Cleveland State University's longest-standing Trustee. She was first appointed to the CSU Board of Trustees by Governor George V. Voinovich on June 26, 1998, and was reappointed by Governor Bob Taft to a full term ending May 1, 2012. During her tenure, she has served as Vice Chairman of the Board and has chaired various committees, including the Academic, Student & Minority Affairs Committee, and most frequently, the Board Committee on Visiting Committees and the Honorary Degree and Recognition Committee. She currently chairs the Athletics Committee.
Mrs. Florkiewicz earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University in 1967. As a member of the Cleveland State University Board of Trustees, she currently represents the Board and serves as a member of the Ohio Board of Regents' Communications Working Group.
Mrs. Florkiewicz is the proprietor of an antiques and collectibles store in Chagrin Falls. She is a civic activist and philanthropist. She serves on many boards throughout the Greater Cleveland community. She is active in the Republican Party and served as Chairwoman of the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County. In March 2004, she was elected to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, and was appointed by U. S. Senator George Voinovich to the Women's Leadership Council.
Trustee Florkiewicz is a strong advocate of Cleveland State University and Viking supporter. She initiated the Women's Athletics Fund in 2001 and has co-chaired its annual fundraising events.
