Ronald E. Weinberg (“Ron”) is Chairman and CEO of Hawk Corporation (AMSE:HWK). As a co-founder of the company, Mr. Ron Weinberg has been instrumental in leading its growth tenfold over the past 19 years. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Hawk is a worldwide manufacturer of friction products, including brake pads and clutch facings. Its products are incorporated into a host of globally recognized brand names such as Boeing airplanes, Caterpillar construction and mining equipment, John Deere farm equipment, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and Humvee military vehicles. The Company has 11 facilities, including manufacturing in Italy, China, Canada and the United States.
Mr. Weinberg is also a principal of Weinberg and Bell, a Cleveland based private equity firm. Its portfolio includes Cetero, one of the largest contract research organizations in the U.S. providing clinical trial services to pharmaceutical companies; Cargo Air Services, a provider of cargo handling service to foreign airlines; and Spears, a mattress manufacturer located in Rome, Georgia.
Mr. Weinberg serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington based U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He served as an appointee of Governor Bob Taft to the 2007 Northeast Ohio Universities Collaboration and Innovation Study. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Visiting Nurse Association and he also served on the Advisory Board of Empower America, a Washington based advocacy organization founded by Jack Kemp.
He graduated from Harvard College in 1963 majoring in Science; and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1965.
