THE MURAL PROJECT: A TRIBUTE TO ROBERTO OCASIO
13 local Hispanic artists collaborate to create a mural in honor of Roberto Ocasio, a well known and well loved local Hispanic musician who died in a tragic car accident last January.

THE 16 TH PEOPLE’S ART SHOW
A free, open, and uncensored exhibition celebrating diversity, imagination, and creativity. Any person may exhibit two works of art in any medium of any size and of any subject!

January 21, to March 5, 2005
PSYCHOLOGICAL EXPRESSIONISM
An exhibition of paintings by Sid Rheuban, now in his eighties, who came to art late in his long and productive life.  Sid paints expressive but intimate portraits of family and friends on canvas and on plexi glass using a reverse painting technique. This method gives the paintings an otherworldly luminescence, which enhances his deep psychological insights into his subjects – making his work very personal yet, profoundly universal.

  • C: January 21, to February 12, 2005: I GREW UP WITH THE DEAD An exhibition of photographs and poetry by Margaret Rutherford, daughter of holocaust survivors, who new her family, all of who were killed during WWII, only through the memory of her mother.
  • C: February 14, to March 5, 2005: GENERATION EMERGING; An Exhibition co-sponsored with SANKOFA ( an African American Arts cooperative) of works by under-represented African American artists of Northeast Ohio; curated by Donna Faithwalker.

A juried exhibition of works by Cleveland State University Students, organized by SOFA (Student Organization of Fine Art). Awards, Prizes! Outside Jurors.

MEMENTO MORI
An exhibition exploring issues of War and Peace co-sponsored by PAND (Performers and Artists for Nuclear Disarmament – presented in collaboration with IRTF (Inter Religious Task Force), PEACE ACTION and other community groups. Artist drop is week of Saturday, May 7, noon to 4 pm, Monday, Tuesday, May 9, 10, 10 am to 4 pm

  • C: May 20 to June 4, 2005 VISIONS OF PEACE: CHILDREN’S PEACE PROJECT.  An exhibition of works by children K-12 organized by Jean Sommer and the Ohio Art Education Association, Northeast Region.
  • C: June 6 to 25, 2005: MAKS VELO: an exhibition of works by Albanian artist Maks Velo, a dissenter, who was censored and banished due to his political views during the days of the old regime in Albania.
