artist's statement
Simplicity is an innate clearness, which can be beautiful. It doesn’t matter if man or nature manipulates it.
When man is manipulating nature, he is trying to create a beautiful object. For instance, environmental nature can be changed in order to appear more graceful and attractive to a man’s eye. For instance, the growth of a seed into a colorful flower is a beautiful thing to witness. Another example would be the bearing of fruit from a tree.
Simple things are what life is all about. By focusing on simplicity, an artist can remain unostentatious to an audience. As a result, a number of art works can be produced.
In reference to my artwork, elements of nature were extracted from everyday references of man. For example, decaying wood and degrees of life and death in foliage. However, these proposed compositions are produced whether manipulated by man or haphazardly created by nature; as an artist. I am re-constructing the everyday visions into something more interesting.
It assumed, I have a working knowledge of principles such as proportion, perspective and the use of the value scale because they are important in creating the piece of art. These aspects are important to me. These considerations become of a secondary nature in composing my Personal interpretation.
I am using variety of idealized marks or characters to create elements of the composition. These marks become characters to define the volumes within the art. These marks are also determining the three-dimensionality of elements within the drawings.
As a result, I am choosing to investigate the dichotomy of modeling the elements as opposed to using idealized marks. Upon viewing the drawings, the relationship between them become abundantly clear. The audience will observe the evolution of one aspect into another.
In other words, the elements' origins are clearly defined. I am well aware these everyday observations that man takes for granted. As a result, I am determined to show the qualified beauty in all of them.
