About the Event The fifth annual Animal Release Service will be held on the west beach of Cleveland's Edgewater Park at noon on Sunday, May 16th 2004. Extending the Heart of Compassion to our animal friends is a time-honored tradition in Buddhism. The Release of Living Creatures is a way for us to thank animals for their myriad roles in sustaining our life and health and providing us with companionship and enjoyment. The ceremony will include a general blessing of all animals who have enriched our lives, the administration of the Buddhist Vows of Refuge so that all living and deceased animals may have fortunate rebirths, and a release of living creatures back into the waters of Lake Erie. All are welcome to bring their current pets, pictures and mementos of past animal companions, and a potluck dish to be shared following the ceremony. We hope to see you at this special event. -- Ven.
