CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY OF OUR WORLD

An exhibition of five contemporary photographers' works each with a unique and distinct vision -- a separate journey. Three photographers focus on the human form as it is expressed and defined by diverse cultures. Two photographers concern themselves with psychologically charged spaces -- as intimate as the human form and, like the human subject, embedded in and expressive of a distinct cultural context.

'Five Journeys' also in a literal sense: all five photographers journey to meet their subjects, together spanning the globe. Each journey an encounter with 'the other' (or a challenge to the concept) -- each encounter a reaffirmation of the universality of our own humanity.

Visually compelling, a common aesthetic sensibility pervades these works -- inner light, serenity, a sense of sacredness. In addition, each body of work in its own way also deals with very large issues defining our complex world today -- current but timeless: truth, beauty, and justice -- perhaps art can point the way to the future.
