Benoy Joseph, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Marketing at CSU's Nance College of Business Administration, for a Reception at Technical Consumer Products, Inc. (TCP). Enjoy an evening of delicious hors d’oeuvres, while mingling with fellow CSU graduates and guests from the Cleveland area.

Ellis Yan moved from China to the United States at the age of 20 to attend Cleveland State University. He graduated in 1982 with a degree in accounting and ventured into the lighting business in 1986, when he began buying used lighting equipment, exporting it to China and manufacturing halogen lighting products. He founded TCP in 1993 and has helped revolutionize the lighting industry. |
Mr. Yan is credited with significantly growing TCP’s sales and employee base, as well as tripling manufacturing capacity at the company’s
Chinese supplier, and he has established consumer and school education programs to share the energy efficient and environmental benefits of using CFLs.
Mr. Yan received CSU's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008 as well as an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree in 2009. He was named to the Forbes 2008 list of Notable Chinese Americans. His many local and national affiliations include Habitat for Humanity, the National Make-A-Difference Day Campaign, the City Mission, NASA Lewis Research Center, the Inventors Hall of Fame, the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank and the National Arbor Foundation.
