Nursing Prerequisite Course Equivalents

Cleveland State University's General Education (GenEd08) curriculum consists of knowledge and skill components considered to be critical for all University graduates to master in the subject matter areas listed below. As a student at Lakeland Community College (LCC), you may choose to take these GenEd08 courses at LCC or at CSU. Please contact a LCC advisor for guidance on courses required to receive your associate's degree.

The courses listed below can be used to fulfill General Education requirements at CSU.

Writing/Composition 2 courses / 6 credits	Required for Basic Nursing and RN-BSN majors ENGL 1110 OR ENGL 1111 and ENGL 1120 OR ENGL 1121 (C or better in each course)
Mathematics/QL 2 courses / 6 credits	Required for all Nursing majors MATH 1550 Basic Nursing and RN-BSN majors also choose from the following: MATH 1550, 1600, 1650, 1700, 1890, 2350, 2450, 2500, 2600
Arts & Humanities 2 courses / 6 credits (from 2 different departments) One introductory Arts & Humanities course plus one course focused on a society other than the U.S. NOTE: One non-US Social Science or Arts and Humanities course must be focused on Africa, Asia, Latin America, or the Middle East. These courses are in *bold italics*	Required for all Basic and Accelerated Nursing majors PHIL 2700 RN-BSN majors choose one of the following Introductory courses: ARTS 1120, 2240, 2245 ENGL 1140, 2210, 2215, 2220, 2230, 2235, 2245, 2250, 2260, 2261, 2263, 2296 HIST 2100, 2200 HUMX 1100, 1200, 1300 MUSC 1200, 1215, 1800, 2250 PHIL 1300, 1500, 2600, 2800 PHOT 1000 Basic Nursing and RN-BSN majors also choose one of the following Non-US Courses: ARTS 2220, 2230 CMPA 1000 ENGL 2280, 2290 HIST 1100, 1200, 1600, 2500, 2750 PHIL 2000, 2700
Social Science 2 courses / 6 credits (from 2 different departments) One introductory Social Science course plus one course focused on a society other than the U.S. NOTE: One non-US Social Science or Arts and Humanities course must be focused on Africa, Asia, Latin America, or the Middle East. Social Diversity 2 courses / 6 credits Must be comprised of: 1 African-American course 1 US Diversity course Students transferring in more than 60 hours are only required to take 1 course	Basic Nursing and RN-BSN majors choose from the following: African-American Experience course: SOCY 2000 URST 2100 US Diversity: ASLI 1500, 1600, 1700 ENGL 2248, 2275 HIST 2450 HMSV 1215 IDST 1200 POLS 2400
Writing Across the Curriculum/ Speaking Across the Curriculum Minimum of 3 courses	Students transferring 60 - 89 hours: one course waived Students transferring 90+ hours: two courses waived One WAC/SPAC course must be in the student's major No transfer courses count toward this requirement - all WAC courses must be completed at CSU
Foreign Language	Students who graduated from high school in 1987 or later are required to complete one of the following: Two years of a single foreign language in high school An introductory level sequence of a single foreign language (generally, two semesters of 100-level study) Two American Sign Language courses and one approved foreign culture course
