Non-Degree
Non-degree students are interested in taking courses for professional development or for personal enjoyment. Non-degree status is ideal for students who are interested in pursuing a degree at Cleveland State but do not wish to complete the formal degree-seeking application process at this time. Once admitted, non-degree students are eligible to enroll each semester.
Apply
The undergraduate admission application is the only document required for admission. Complete the application online or download and print the application (Adobe Acrobat Reader required to download application) and mail the application to:

A one-time, nonrefundable $30 application fee is required by check or money order (made payable to Cleveland State University) and must be submitted with the application. Students submitting an application online may pay with Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
Admission Requirements
Prospective non-degree students must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Restrictions
- International students on an F-1 visa are not eligible to be non-degree students.
- Non-degree students are scheduled to register for courses after degree-seeking students.
- Non-degree students must have departmental approval before registering for upper-level courses (numbered at the 300 and 400 levels).
- Non-degree students are not considered to be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and are ineligible for financial aid.
When non-degree students are ready to pursue a bachelor’s degree program, they reapply to Cleveland State as a degree-seeking student through Undergraduate Admissions. An additional application fee is not required.
Check Status of Your Application
Admission decisions are typically made within 24 hours of receipt of all required materials. If special circumstances apply, an admissions committee reviews individual applications for decision each week.
