Levin College of Urban Affairs
The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University is one of the top 10 urban affairs schools in the nation. U.S. News & World Report’s listing of "America’s Best Graduate Schools 2008" ranked it number two in the nation for its “city management/urban policy” graduate specialty. The College offers 13 degree programs that equip students with the technical and management skills needed to launch careers in fields such as public management, planning, public safety, historic preservation, environmental studies, economic development, and housing. Degree completion programs are available for community college transfer students with A.A., A.A.S., or A.A.B. degrees in human services, health sciences, paralegal studies, police science, emergency management, or fire science.
Public Safety Management Major
The Public Safety Management Major is designed to:
Graduates of the public safety management program work in law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, and emergency preparedness at the local, state, and federal level. They seek positions with federal law enforcement agencies or with local or state probation and parole agencies.
A major in Public Safety Management is good preparation for law school or for graduate study in Public Administration.
Career Services assistance is available at the college through job postings, government and post-graduate internship opportunities, and a mentoring program. The Cleveland State Career Services Office offers career counseling and resume review on site. The required public safety internship gives students practical experience in settings designed to complement their degree program.
The Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Management curriculum takes full advantage of its location in a major urban setting in fulfilling its commitment to urban education, research, and community service.
The curriculum utilizes the resources of the Levin College and other related departments throughout the University for its interdisciplinary academic program. Students pursuing the Public Safety Management major take courses and seminars dealing directly with problems and issues in the field and their solutions. Web-based and interactive video courses are available.
In addition, the Public Safety Management major is designed to facilitate transfer for students with AAS degrees in law enforcement, fire science technology, or emergency management.

A total of 128 hours is required for the Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Management. All degree-seeking students are required to complete a specific number of General Education (GenEd) courses. Students are responsible for ensuring the appropriate selection of courses to satisfy GenEd requirements and are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor regarding the applicability of selected courses. Students must complete the following courses or their transfer equivalents to fulfill University General Education (GenEd) requirements.

ENG 101 English I and UST 102 Professional Writing or
ENG 102 English IISocial Science – 9 credits, 2 fields
UST 200 Introduction to Urban Studies is required

GEO 100/101 Introduction to Geology and Lab AND
