The operations and supply chain management responsibilities include sourcing, procurement, distribution and transportation, process scheduling and improvement, both within and across companies. The field is rapidly growing with improvement in technology leading to an expansion in new career opportunities. The goal of the B.B.A major in Operations and Supply chain Management (OSM) is to provide students the background needed to become business leaders who will be equipped to solve complex challenges in operations and supply chain management. We accomplish this goal through our excellence and strength in high quality teaching and world-class research.

Because of the globalization of commerce, growth in information technologies, as well as recent emphasis given to logistics and supply management, there has been a tremendous growth in job opportunities in this field. The following are some areas of employment for OSM majors.

Specializations in OSM

The OSM program is designed to provide a strong foundation in all aspects of operations management and supply chain management as well as exposure to the analytical tools used in the field. However, for students who want to specialize we provide four possible tracks.

Supply Chain Management. This track is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of activities involved in a supply chain system. Students who are interested in working for logistics companies, or manufacturing and service companies with supply chain management functions should follow this track.

Global Operations Management. This track will prepare students to manage many different aspects of global operations in both service organizations and manufacturing firms.

Project Management. This track will provide the background in project management and scheduling that will be necessary for students who want to become project managers or project leaders.

Business Analytics. This track will provide a strong background in data analysis, statistics and analytical tools that an analyst needs in many organizations. Students in this track will gain proficiency in SAS, SPSS, Minitab, and Excel.
