I spent five weeks in Japan in July and August of 1997. With a group of four other international education administrators from the USA, I visited an extensive number of universities in Japan to understand their general operation. Most specifically, we explored the opportunities foreign students have for obtaining higher education in Japan. My particular research concern was the character of Chinese student involvement in Japan.
