Cleveland State University is celebrating 50 years of excellence in higher education in Cleveland - and we want the entire community to celebrate with us! Get ready to "Go Viking!" as CSU's Green Turns Gold Weekend kicks into high gear with our 50th Anniversary Block Party and Parade of the Decades. We're shutting down parts of Euclid Avenue and East 18th Street for this historic bash, which is free and open to the public. You're invited to join CSU students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends for the festivities!
4:00pm: The Block Party starts with live entertainment on our pavilion stage featuring DJ Lo-Key spinning the hits of the decades!
6:00pm: The Parade of the Decades - led by grand marshal and proud CSU alumnus Norris Cole of the Miami Heat - steps off from the Student Center Plaza and makes its way to East 18th Street. Alumni and family members are invited to march along!
6:30pm: Cleveland's own The Avenue - a 10-piece band featuring 2005 "American Idol" Top 5 finalist Scott Savol on vocals - will perform many hits from the past 50 years! You can also join the Parade of the Decades featuring alumni and students!
7:00pm: Support our women's soccer team versus the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at Krenzler Field.
8:00pm: Don't miss award-winning artist SVET, the hip-hop violinist who appeared on the hit show "America's Got Talent." Svet's high-energy music combines classical stylings and contemporary grooves. He previously has shared stages with Kanye West, Cee-Lo Green and Jamie Foxx.
Throughout the evening, enjoy culinary creations from some of Northeast Ohio's most popular food trucks - including Sushi on the Roll, The Orange Trük, Krav Food Truck and Sweet! The Mobile Cupcakery - and relax in the beer garden. There will also be activities for kids, including a Dance, Dance Revolution tent sponsored by the CSU Rec Center, carnival treats, games, giveaways and more! Fireworks will conclude the festivities at dusk!
